Chalkley’s:  We will be coming back again to this charming period cottage.  Its presentation is in line with its heritage and the whole experience is wonderful. The location is superb and links to the centre of London very easy indeed.  Many thanks to you for being excellent custodians of the Old Bakery.  Guests from County Mayo, Ireland February 2020

Chalkley’s: “This is the second time we have stayed and we loved it as much as ever. A perfect example of what British families call “cosy” and remarkably well equipped with all mod cons. We hope to come back very soon!”  Guests from Brazil March 2020

Chalkley’s: “The charm of this cottage cannot be overstated and the mattresses, soft sheets and lovely pillows were the icing on the Christmas cake”  Guests from USA December 2019

Chalkley’s: “We had a wonderful stay here at the Bakery.  The close proximity to the station and to the great restaurants and shops was very convenient. We love the service you offer and will be sure to come back again.”  A family from Germany in June 2019

Chalkley’s:  “This charming place is amazing. If you’re looking for a quiet, historical place outside the bustle of the city but with its own subway station a mere stones throw away, this is it. I had no idea how quaint the area is with restaurants, groceries, places for breakfast/coffee all right there.  Nina is an amazing hostess who walked us around the space and told us about the history of the Old bakery, the town and everything you need. Absolutely wonderful.”  Guests from Maryland USA May 2018

The Stables: ”Staying at The Stables in Winchmore Hill was an absolutely wonderful experience. The area is a quiet, lovely respite very close to the city centre and the train station is about a 3 minute walk to the property. The Stables is the kind of place I could have stayed at for a month and had everything I need. Beautiful patio and a really lovely and cozy loft make this one extraordinary. I’ve stayed in many holiday rentals. This one stands out. The host, Nina, was also excellent. She went above and beyond for me, even walking to the station when I got mixed up and went the wrong way ( a dumb mistake on my part ). What I appreciated the most were her written suggestions about what to see. I wouldn’t have known about several amazing places, such as Kew Gardens, which is now one of my favorite places ever, if she hadn’t suggested them. Five gigantic stars for this one. I loved every moment and I’ll definitely be back !! Thanks so very much !!! ” Guest from USA May 2018

The Stables:  ”We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at The Stables, which was the perfect place to come back to after a busy (and in our case hot) day in the city. So convenient for the station, shops and pubs/restaurants – and enjoying a relaxing glass of wine in the evening in the garden was the icing on the cake. Will certainly recommend and book again for our next London city break. Thank you, Nina.  Guests from Germany

The Stables: “The little cottage was as described and Nina was a gracious and helpful hostess. Easy access to the London Overground and Tube system and an Oyster card made it simple to see the sights. The cottage was equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Would go back in a heartbeat.”  Guests from New Zealand

Chalkley’s:  To stay at a historic house that is over 350 years old was a dream since I was a child, so we decided to stay at the Old Bakery. It was a fantastic place with history in every corner of the house it seems you could listen to all the stories from former inhabitants. The beds are perfect; the two bath rooms are brand new and the kitchen includes everything you need. But mind your head at the lintel of every door the people in former time where a little bit smaller. In a distance of 3 minutes minutes’ walk you’ll find one super pub, 4 restaurants and ‘The Larder’, a fine place for an English breakfast, where we started our day. Just 3 minutes’ walk to the station Winchmore Hill to start the daily tour to central London and within 30 minutes you are at Oxford street or Piccadilly Circus. A super place to stay. Thank you very much Nina and Bruce. We are looking forward to coming back to your beautiful house. “   Guests from Orlando USA

Chalkley’s  “Chalkley’s is simply lovely. Impeccably furnished, very neat, and comfortable. The pictures you see are exactly what you get. Winchmore Hill was a great area with lovely  restaurants. It’s location is 30- 35 minutes from London attractions.  Everyone in Britain is friendly. …So pleased with this vacation. It was worth the 6 month wait. Thank you to Nina for being lovely.” Guest from Seattle USA  2017

The Stables: “As wonderful as always. This was my third stay at The Old Bakery and it definitely won’t be my last!  The Stables have everything you need for your stay in London from a well equipped kitchen to a very comfy living room. I especially like that the apartment is very close to the local station – central London is only half and hour away. The apartment has the advantage of being located in a quiet neighbourhood. You can sleep very well. All in all a nice property with very helpful and friendly owners.”  Guest from The Netherlands,  September 2016

The Stables:  “This was my second stay in the Stables, another memorable week in London. The property is furnished with style and attention to detail and has excellent facilities and quality fittings. Everything was so comfortable, especially the bedroom under the eaves. I found that the Stables was a great place to relax after a busy day out and about in London and the good railway service meant that there was no difficulty getting back into central London for evening theatre and returning after the show. ” Guest from Australia, April 2016

Chalkley’s: “We had a great time showing our sons the sights of London for the first time. The Old Bakery was a great base camp and Winchmore Hill is fabulous.”  Guests from Ireland, October 2015

Chalkley’s: “We loved our stay at your charming Chalkley’s cottage. The art, the books and travel guides all enhanced our visit. The kitchen was well equipped. The Stables:   “Second time at the Old Bakery and perfect once again.  Wonderful, comfortable accommodation in a great location. I think that this sums it up. Having stayed at the larger Chalkley’s apartment at the Old Bakery in 2013, I wondered whether my response to the Stables would be equally enthusiastic. It was. The good design, the stylish furnishings and fittings, and the attractive garden setting made the Stables a cheerful, warm and relaxing place to return each evening during a memorable week in London. I felt as if I was returning home. I slept consistently well in the distinctive loft bedroom. Once again I enjoyed staying in attractive Winchmore Hill with its fast and convenient railway connection to Central London”   Reviewed June 14, 2014 on Trip Advisor

Chalkley’s:  “My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment. The history behind it is quite remarkable, and it’s a shame that the bakery closed. We have stayed in many vacation rentals around Europe, and none have been quite as nice as this.  The owner, Nina, gave us a superb rundown of the place as well as pointing us in the right direction to find groceries and great places to eat.”  April 17th 2014 on Trip Advisor

The Stables:  “The Stables is hidden away behind just two minutes from the Winchmore Hill station; entry is through a hidden gated garden with clematis, roses and numerous flowering shrubs and vines and private patio. Nina and her family were so helpful before and after our stay and have taken care to pay attention to every detail. The place was immaculate and very comfortable, with everything we could possibly have needed as well as fresh roses on the table”     July 26th 2014, on Trip Advisor
